A snare is a simple wire noose trap that is very effective. It is cheap and easy to set in large numbers. A snare traps an animal around the neck or the body; sometimes it's just a strong rope. Originally, the idea of wire traps was to get some bush meat, mostly antelope, to feed hungry mouths in the area. However, these times are long gone; snaring has, just like poaching, become an organized, most cruel and inhumane way of killing anything that moves in the bush to sell on the market, be it lion paws and leopard skins, elephant skulls or simply meat.

While some of the pictures may be disturbing to viewers, they show the brutal reality of snaring.

Thousands of snares are set every day everywhere in the bush, all over the world, where there is wildlife. Every kind of animal can get trapped, starving, badly impaired, and often dying a slow, cruel, and terrible death. Unless many of us act fast, there is a huge chance that the word SAFARI becomes extinct, together with wild animals of all kinds.

 My Project

It has been shown that poaching reduces by 80% when poachers know that there are rangers in the area and that it is regularly patrolled. However, anti-snaring (as opposed to anti-poaching) is mostly left to volunteers, due to lack of staff and money. This is simply not enough, since thousands of snares would have to be removed on a daily basis.

Hence, my project is to employ and train my own small group of anti-snaring rangers on a full time basis:
   The SnareSnatchTeam South Africa

I am planning to have at least 5 operational rangers by the end of 2023. We also need our vehicle maintained and repaired as it is used in very hostile conditions on rough terrain. Stealth clothing and special equipment are required for our safety and effectiveness on dangerous ground.

Please help me achieve my target so that I can employ local guys to work with me and remove thousands of deadly snares.
